Biography

Andrés Rodríguez-Pose holds the Princesa de Asturias Chair in Economic Geography at the London School of Economics (LSE). He currently directs the Cañada Blanch Centre at LSE and previously served as the Head of the Department of Geography and Environment. Rodríguez-Pose chaired the European Union's High-Level Group on Future Cohesion Policy, shaping the EU's Cohesion Policy for 2027. His work is highly influential, informing policy decisions and regularly advising international organizations and governments, earning recognition as a top scientist globally in urban and regional studies by Stanford rankings, identifying him among the top 2% of scientists across disciplines. He has appeared on Clarivate’s list of Highly Cited Researchers for the past five years. Among his honours, Rodríguez-Pose received the 2018 ERSA Prize in Regional Science, a prestigious accolade in the field, and holds honorary doctorates from Utrecht University in the Netherlands and Jönköping University in Sweden. He was awarded the Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award.
