Dr. Andres Vargas

Biography

Andres Vargas is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Purdue University, where he also serves as the Assistant Department Head. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.A. in Natural Resources Agricultural Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics, and a B.A. in Economics from the Universidad de los Andes in Colombia. With a comprehensive background in economics, Dr. Vargas specializes in macroeconomics and labor economics. His research interests are primarily in health economics, immigration, and time use, with a focus on the economic impacts of immigrant assimilation. He employs a micro-econometric approach, concentrating on the identification and estimation of causal effects through the use of household survey data. Dr. Vargas's work contributes to a deeper understanding of the interplay between economic factors and social issues, particularly concerning labor markets and immigration policies.
