Biography

Andreu Costa is a Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at Dalhousie University. He specializes in abdominal radiology, with a focus on hepatopancreaticobiliary oncologic imaging. Dr. Costa has published over 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts, contributing significantly to the field through improved imaging protocols and the development of patient pathways and regional policies in Nova Scotia. His work includes imaging techniques for appendicitis, ectopic pregnancy, CT colonography, and US-guided prostate biopsy. In collaboration with the Department of Urology, he developed a MR-US fusion targeted prostate biopsy program for the province. Dr. Costa has co-authored national clinical practice guidelines for nephrogenic systemic fibrosis and gadolinium retention on behalf of the Canadian Association of Radiology. He served as co-Chair of a joint CAR/CSACI working group on hypersensitivity reactions to contrast media. He is an executive member of the Canadian Society of Abdominal Radiology and serves on the editorial board of CARJ as well as the Evidence-Based Working Group of the American College of Radiology Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System.
