Biography

Andrew Armstrong is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Queen's University. He is a career pharmacist and has a military background, having served for 18 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. Andrew completed his MD at Queen's University in 2014 and went on to finish a Family Medicine residency at the same institution. He has also completed Flight Surgeon Dive Medicine training with the CAF. His military experience includes a tour of duty in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in 2008, and participation in multiple military medevac missions in Eastern Europe and the Balkans from 2018 to 2020. Prior to transitioning into his current role, Andrew worked in community emergency rooms in Manitoba and northwestern Ontario from 2017 to 2020. His professional interests encompass military medicine, trauma and resuscitation, and environmental medicine. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Nicole, and their two young boys, engaging in hobbies such as cycling, mountain biking, canoeing, and camping.
