Biography

Andrew Baker is a Professor and Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs at the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine at the University of Toronto. He is also the Medical Director of the Surgery Critical Care Program at St. Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto. Dr. Baker holds the inaugural Cara Phelan Chair in Critical Care Medicine and has served as the Incident Commander for both the Greater Toronto Area Hospitals IMS Command Centre and the Ontario Critical Care COVID Command Centre. Over the past decade, he has been a director for the Trillium Gift of Life Network and has been actively involved in addressing ethical issues in access to critical care services across Ontario. Andrew directs a brain injury laboratory at the Keenan Research Centre, where his research focuses on biomarker studies in brain injury and critical illness. He is a recognized speaker and has published extensively in clinical laboratory research, contributing to advancements in the field of anesthesiology and critical care medicine.
