Biography

Andrew Bishop is a versatile saxophonist, clarinetist, flautist, composer, improvisor, scholar, and educator, known for his work in both national and international settings. He serves as a Professor and Chair at the University of Michigan's Department of Jazz and Contemporary Improvisation, where he teaches applied saxophone, composition, and improvisation. His background includes earning five degrees in music, including a Doctorate in Music Composition from the University of Michigan. As a dedicated teacher, he has received multiple awards for excellence in teaching. In addition to his academic role, Bishop has established a significant presence in the music industry as a composer, with notable recordings that have received acclaim from various authoritative sources.
