Professor Dr. Andrew Bottoms

Biography

Andrew R. Bottoms is a Senior Lecturer and the Program Director of Deaf Studies at Boston University's Wheelock College of Education & Human Development. He was born and raised in a Deaf family in North Carolina and is a native user of American Sign Language (ASL). Mr. Bottoms is driven by a passion for teaching ASL and emphasizes the importance of sharing the language and culture that ASL embodies. His specialization lies in the realm of ASL literature. He has contributed to the field through various publications, including articles in the Deaf Studies Digital Journal. Mr. Bottoms holds a Master’s degree in Sign Language Teaching and a Bachelor’s degree in both American Sign Language and Deaf Studies, all from Gallaudet University. His commitment to Deaf studies and education continues to impact students and the broader community.
