Biography

Andrew Chisholm received his PhD from Cambridge University in 1989, where he conducted research at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology. He then pursued postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under the mentorship of H. Robert Horvitz, receiving a Lucille P. Markey postdoctoral fellowship. Chisholm joined the faculty of the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he advanced to the rank of Professor before moving to the University of California, San Diego in 2007. From 2016 to 2019, he served as the Head of the Cellular and Developmental Sciences at the Wellcome Trust in London and in 2019 he was appointed Associate Dean in the Division of Biological Sciences.
