Biography

Andrew Cosgarea, M.D., is a specialist in sports medicine who focuses on the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of sports-related injuries, particularly those affecting the knee, shoulder, and elbow. As a professor of orthopaedic surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, he has transitioned from performing surgical procedures to providing office-based patient care while remaining involved in clinical consultation, research, and medical education. Dr. Cosgarea's research centers on knee biomechanics with the goal of improving treatment outcomes for sports injuries. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has extensive surgical expertise in procedures such as arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and ACL reconstruction. Dr. Cosgarea is currently the head team physician for Johns Hopkins University's Department of Athletics and has previously served as the team physician for the Baltimore Orioles from 2000 to 2010. His contributions to the field have earned him recognition as one of the top knee surgeons and specialists.
