Biography

Andrew Dhanasopon is an Associate Professor of Surgery (Thoracic) at the Yale School of Medicine. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego, and his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his General Surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a Thoracic Surgery fellowship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2017. Dhanasopon's clinical practice focuses on minimally invasive surgical techniques, including robotic surgery for a variety of thoracic diseases such as lung cancer and esophageal cancer. He is passionate about improving the care of cancer patients through quality improvement and clinical research, and he has authored and presented papers at major society meetings. He serves as the Associate Program Director for the Yale Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency & Fellowship and is involved in the development of surgical trainees. His emphasis on utilizing the latest surgical methods and technologies stems from his background in biomedical engineering, which he believes has a direct and positive impact on patients' lives.
