Dr. Andrew Dixon

Biography

Andrew William Dixon, MD, is an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine and a Clinician Educator at Brown University. He earned his BA in English from Carleton College and his MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine. During medical school, he was awarded the National Health Service Corps scholarship. After completing his residency in Family Medicine at United Family Medicine in Saint Paul, MN, Dr. Dixon worked with Unity Health Care, a network of Federally Qualified Health Care providers in Washington, DC. He served as the Regional Director of Medical Education at the ATSU School of Osteopathic Medicine and was Associate Program Director responsible for the Washington training location of the Wright Center's National Family Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Dixon has a keen interest in global health and completed ultrasound trainings through the Global Ultrasound Institute, Northeastern University, and Midwifery Consulting Group. He co-created a 12-module Point Care Ultrasound curriculum for the NFMR. Since joining Brown in 2023, he has been involved as Medical Director of the Family Care Center in Pawtucket and has been a core faculty member of the residency program. He has facilitated Global Ultrasound Institute workshops and has presented on practice improvement topics aimed at reducing no-show rates and improving clinic quality metrics.
