Biography

Andrew Elmore joined the Boston University School of Law faculty in 2025 as a Professor of Law and Barreca Labor Relations Scholar. He is a leading expert in labor and employment law, with his scholarship focusing on the failure of the state to effectively regulate low-wage workplaces and the efforts of worker movements to generate new legal frameworks that protect workers’ rights and reduce bargaining power inequality. His work has been published or is forthcoming in several prestigious journals, including the California Law Review, Southern California Law Review, and George Washington Law Review. Elmore has served as Chair-Elect of the Association of American Law Schools’ Section on Labor Relations and Employment Law and is a member of the Labor Rights Collaborative Research Network of the Law and Society Association. Prior to joining Boston University, he was on the faculty of the University of Miami School of Law. Before entering academia in 2018, Elmore practiced law for a decade, beginning with the Legal Aid Society in New York City, where he developed an employment law practice representing immigrant and low-wage workers. He also served as the Section Chief in the New York Office of the Attorney General, where he led and supervised investigations into systemic violations of employment and employment discrimination laws. Elmore clerked for Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis of the District Court for the Eastern District of New York and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, Order of the Coif.
