Biography

Andrew Forgie is a Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in restorative dentistry, based at the Dental School since 2017. He leads the Clinical Dentistry Section, focusing on Dental Undergraduate training and has a strong interest in student welfare during early pre-clinical training. He serves as the Director of Education for the School of Medicine and Dentistry. Clinically, he leads the Restorative Dentistry team, which is part of the Cleft Scotland initiative, addressing the care of patients with Cleft Lip and Palate. His expertise includes caries diagnosis and the application of magnification in dentistry. Andrew completed his PhD prior to his specialist clinical training. Before his tenure at the University of Glasgow, he managed several dental postgraduate programs at the University of Dundee and was heavily involved in undergraduate teaching. He also held the position of Associate Postgraduate Dean at NHS Education Scotland (NES), where he was responsible for undergraduate education, contributing to the delivery of the 2015 Scottish Government Dental Action Plan. In his spare time, he pursues research interests in Forensic Dentistry.
