Biography

Andrew Gleason graduated with honors in medicine from the University of Sydney and completed advanced training in neuropsychiatry at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He became a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2012 and specializes in old age psychiatry. His dedication to the field earned him the Trainee Prize from his peers in Australasia. Gleason is a member of the Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry, the Faculty of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and the Section on Neuropsychiatry of the RANZCP. He is also a co-author of the major psychiatry textbook 'Primer Clinical Psychiatry', 2nd edition, which reflects his contributions to medical education, awarded Membership in the Melbourne Medical School Academy of Clinical Teachers in 2013. Currently, he leads the psychopharmacology stream at the Monash Alfred Psychiatry Research Centre and serves as a Senior Specialist in Neuropsychiatry at the Victorian Statewide Progressive Neurological Disease Service. With his role, he runs an outreach clinic for individuals with Huntington’s disease in Northern Tasmania and is the principal investigator on several clinical trials aimed at developing new therapies for Alzheimer’s disease.
