Professor Dr. Andrew Gonzalez

Biography

Andrew Gonzalez holds the Liber Ero Chair in Biodiversity Conservation and leads the Gonzalez Lab. His research focuses on the intersection of biodiversity science and conservation policy, particularly the development and application of monitoring and modeling tools for ecosystem services. Gonzalez is known for his collaborative work, building understanding of biodiversity change through combining theory, experiments, and data synthesis. He has been actively involved in various international negotiations related to biodiversity, including his roles with the Global Biodiversity Framework and the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity. Through his leadership, the lab aims to innovate in the field of biodiversity science and supports rapid applications of scientific findings to address pressing ecological challenges.
