Biography

Andrew Greenlee is a Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at the Department of Urban and Regional Planning. His work focuses on the intersection of housing policy, community development, and social equity planning. An expert in low-income housing policy and federal low-income housing support programs, Dr. Greenlee’s research explores governance programs at the local and regional levels and their impact on outcomes for low-income households. His research also investigates household-level collective dynamics regarding residential mobility and neighborhood change, with a particular focus on forced displacement due to various factors such as urban renewal, eviction, and climate change. In addition, Andrew serves as the director of the Illinois Housing Lab and is a faculty affiliate with the Center for Social and Behavioral Sciences, the Lemann Center for Brazilian Studies, the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and the Institute of Government and Public Affairs. Andrew received his Ph.D. in Urban Planning Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago and holds a Master's degree in Urban Regional Planning from the University of Iowa, as well as a Bachelor's degree in English and Sociology from Grinnell College.
