Biography

Andrew Hector joined the University of Southampton as a postdoctoral research fellow specializing in complex fluorides and oxyfluorides as well as lithium battery cathode materials. He was awarded a Royal Society University Research Fellowship to study precursor routes for new metal nitride compositions and processing methods before joining the academic staff. As a member of the Electrochemistry research grouping, Andrew's work primarily involves the synthesis and characterization of materials for electrochemical applications. He is an externally active researcher, being a fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a member of the International Society of Electrochemistry. Andrew currently serves on the RSC Electrochemistry interest group committee as treasurer and is a member of the EPSRC College, in addition to serving on the Royal Society Research Grants panel and the IRC Government of Ireland postgraduate scholarships panel.
