Dr. Andrew Henderson

Biography

Andrew Henderson is a Professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, specializing in Infectious Diseases. He completed his PhD at the University of California, Riverside, and his research focuses on cellular mechanisms that regulate HIV replication and transcription. Dr. Henderson's current projects include investigating the signaling factors that influence HIV infection latency and developing strategies for the long-term repression of the HIV provirus. He also characterizes the transcriptional status of the HIV provirus in various T cell and macrophage subsets and is interested in the mechanisms contributing to HIV-associated inflammation. As an Assistant Dean, he plays a significant role in undergraduate and graduate training and guides leadership programs for PhD candidates and international researchers. Dr. Henderson is actively involved in multiple NIH-funded projects addressing critical aspects of HIV research and has served on NIH study sections as a member and chair. He has received several prestigious awards throughout his career, recognizing his contributions to biomedical research.
