Professor Andrew Holland qualified MB, BS at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical University of London in 1988 and obtained BSc Honours in Anatomy at Middlesex Hospital Medical School in 1985. He underwent initial postgraduate surgical training in London and Oxford, and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1992. After migrating to Australia, he trained in General Paediatric Surgery in Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney, achieving FRACS in Paediatric Surgery in 1998. He was awarded a PhD from the University of Sydney in 2002 and later became a Senior Lecturer there, as well as a Senior Staff Specialist at The Children’s Hospital Westmead. In 2005, he was promoted to Associate Professor and awarded a personal chair in Paediatric Surgery in 2010, having published over 250 peer-reviewed articles and received several international research grants and scholarships. His research focuses on improving health outcomes for children with major injuries and evaluating the impacts of early surgery on neurodevelopmental outcomes.
