Biography

Andrew Hrymak is a professor in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Western University. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from McMaster University. Hrymak served as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Western University from July 1, 2009, to July 31, 2018. Prior to this, he was a faculty member in the Department of Chemical Engineering at McMaster University from 1985 to 2009, where he held various leadership roles including Department Chair and Director of the McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute. His research interests lie in modeling, design optimization, and materials processing systems, particularly in composite processing, injection molding, compression molding, mixing of liquid coating flows, and complex rheology. Hrymak has served as an editor for Computers & Chemical Engineering and as Editor-in-Chief for International Polymer Processing. He has served on various committees and boards within the Canadian engineering community, including the Chemical Institute of Canada. As a recognized leader in his field, he has received several prestigious awards including being a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and the Chemical Institute of Canada.
