Biography

Andrew Hunt is a rural Family Emergency Medicine physician practicing in Newfoundland Labrador. He graduated from Memorial’s MD Family Medicine Residency Programs and takes pride in helping fulfill the mandate of social accountability in the province. Since returning to his hometown of Twillingate in 2011, he has built an academic career while continuing to practice medicine for over a decade. Dr. Hunt has contributed significantly to rural medicine and has served in leadership roles, including Rural Chief of Staff, Chief of the Department of Family Medicine, and Vice President of Medical Services at a health authority. Currently, he is the Newfoundland Labrador representative on the Council of the Society of Rural Physicians of Canada and serves as the Assistant Dean of Distributed Medical Education at Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Hunt holds an Assistant Professor appointment in the Discipline of Family Medicine and continues to advocate for rural medicine and medical education. He is also a proud father, a loving husband, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoys new adventures that life brings his way.
