Biography

Andrew Hunt is a Professor of History at the University of Waterloo, specializing in Modern U.S. Cultural and Social History. His research interests encompass American popular culture—including film, television, music, and print culture—as well as themes such as Cold War culture, advertising and consumerism, social protest movements of the Sixties, and the dynamics of modern American conservatism and liberalism. He has authored several significant works, including 'Turning: History Vietnam Veterans War' (1999), 'David Dellinger: Life Nonviolent Revolutionary' (2006), 'The 1980s: Social History' (2009), 'Begin Bombing Five Minutes: Cold War Culture Wars Age Reagan' (2021), and 'Beatlemania America: Fan Culture' (2023). Additionally, Hunt is an avid fiction writer with three novels to his credit and is currently working on a project concerning the innovative contributions of Jewish film directors in the cinema of the 1960s.
