Biography

Andrew David Jackson is an Associate Professor in Korean Studies at Monash University. He served as the convenor of the Korean Studies program from 2017 to 2019. Before joining Monash, he was an associate professor at the University of Copenhagen, where he was a member of the Department of Cross-Cultural Regional Studies from 2013 to 2017. With a BA (Hons) in French Language and Literature from the University of Kent, an MSc in Comparative General Literary Studies from the University of Edinburgh, and a PhD in Korean history from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, Jackson has a robust academic background. His teaching includes Modern Korean History and Korean Language, along with overseeing PhD projects focused on Korean modern and premodern history and North Korean cinema. He has authored several publications such as 'Musin Rebellion: Politics and Rebellion in Eighteenth-Century Korea' and is recognized for his contributions to Korean film and popular culture studies. Active in academic conferences and grant-funded projects, he leads initiatives to enhance Korean studies knowledge globally.
