Biography

Andrew King is a Professor of Neurophysiology at the University of Oxford and the Director of the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience. He is a Wellcome Principal Research Fellow with expertise in auditory neuroscience. His research investigates how the auditory brain adapts to rapidly changing statistics in real-life soundscapes and the integration of sensory-motor-related signals, particularly in relation to altered auditory inputs due to peripheral hearing impairments. He completed his BSc in Physiology at King’s College London and obtained his PhD at the National Institute for Medical Research in London. King's research has been recognized with awards, including the Wellcome Prize in Physiology in 1990. He has been elected a Fellow of several prestigious organizations, including the Academy of Medical Sciences, the Royal Society, and the Physiological Society. In addition, King has significant editorial responsibilities, having served as a Senior Editor for eLife and on the editorial boards of the Journal of Physiology and the Journal of Neuroscience.
