Andrew Kirk is a Professor of Neurology at the University of Saskatchewan, where he has worked since 1991. He completed his medical degree at the University of Western Ontario and trained in Neurology after studying Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto. His postgraduate training included research fellowships in cognitive neurology at the University of Florida and the University of Western Ontario. His clinical interests focus on adult neurology, particularly dementia and multiple sclerosis. In 2003, he co-founded a CIHR-funded Rural Remote Memory Clinic that utilizes telehealth technology to serve individuals with Huntington’s disease in Saskatchewan. He has a prominent role in various professional societies, including serving as Past-President of both the Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation and the Canadian Neurological Society. He has presented his work to the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and the Senate of Canada. Alongside his academic contributions, he has published fiction and has been recognized for excellence in teaching with nominations for the University of Saskatchewan Student Union Teaching Excellence Award. In 2012, he was honored with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his work in neurology.
