Biography

Andy Knight is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Software Engineering at the University of Calgary. His research program focuses on the challenges of integrating renewable energy sources into electrical systems, enhancing energy efficiency, and electrical energy conversion. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge and previously served as a Professor at the University of Alberta before joining Calgary. Knight is a Professional Engineer registered in Alberta and a Senior Member of IEEE. He has received several awards for his research papers from the IEEE Power and Energy Society and the IEEE Industry Applications Society. Currently, he holds the position of Past-President of the IEEE Industry Applications Society and is involved in various governing boards including IEEE Smart Cities and IEEE Smart Village. Knight has also chaired several committees within IEEE related to energy conversion and electrical drives.
