Biography

Andrew Seung-Hyun Koh is an Assistant Professor in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago, where he conducts research in immunology and cancer biology. His research interests encompass a variety of subjects including immune tolerance, chromatin remodeling, and single-cell genomics. Dr. Koh's lab aims to understand how thymic epithelium can ectopically express tissue-specific self-antigens to promote tolerance towards self-reactive T cells, thereby preventing autoimmunity. His team utilizes a multidisciplinary approach that integrates genetics, genomics, and proteomics to interrogate cellular mechanisms related to immune development and function. Dr. Koh has published extensively in prominent journals, contributing significant findings on T cell plasticity and chromatin dynamics as they relate to cancer therapy. He has received various awards throughout his career, including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Fellowship and the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award. His academic background includes a PhD in Immunology from Harvard University and postdoctoral work at Stanford University.
