Biography

Andrew Lambert is the Laughton Professor of Naval History in the Department of War Studies at King's College London. His research focuses on naval strategic history, the British Empire, and the Napoleonic Wars. Lambert has addressed a range of issues including technology, policy-making, regional security, deterrence, historiography, and crisis management in conflict. He received the 2014 Anderson Medal for his work titled 'Challenge: Britain America Naval War 1812'. Additionally, Lambert participated in a German documentary/academic expedition to Robinson Crusoe Island, which sought to understand the relationship between the fictional character Robinson Crusoe and the real story of Scots sailor Alexander Selkirk, considering the implications for British global strategy and naval expeditions in the early 18th century.
