Biography

Andrew Landstrom is a physician-scientist specializing in the care of children and young adults with arrhythmias and heritable cardiovascular diseases, as well as sudden unexplained death syndromes. He is a trained pediatric cardiologist with a strong focus on genetic diseases of the heart. His clinical practice revolves around patients with heritable channelopathies, including long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia, and short QT syndrome. His areas of expertise also include the evaluation of children experiencing cardiac arrest or sudden unexplained death in a family member. As a scientist, he has a background in genetics and cell biology and leads a research lab that investigates the genetic and molecular causes of arrhythmias and related cardiovascular conditions. His work employs patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells and genetic mouse models to uncover mechanisms behind these genetic diseases and to develop novel therapeutic strategies.
