Biography

Andrew Leach is an energy and environmental economist with a joint appointment in the University of Alberta’s Faculties of Arts and Law. He has over two decades of experience as a researcher and has served as Co-Director of the Institute of Public Economics. Prior to joining Alberta, Leach held a professorship at the Alberta School of Business and was a teaching fellow and assistant professor at Queen’s University and HEC Montréal respectively. His research expertise encompasses a range of topics including environmental and resource economics, energy markets, and constitutional law. He has contributed to public policy as the chair of Alberta’s Climate Leadership Panel and has written extensively as a consultant for federal and provincial governments on climate and energy policies. Leach has published over 200 articles in major media and academic journals and has served as an expert witness before government committees. Beyond academia, he is actively involved in the REACH Edmonton Council and enjoys cycling as a member of the Edmonton Juventus Cycling Club.
