Biography

Andrew Lewis is a Principal Investigator at the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, and an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at the Oxford Heart Centre. He leads a spatial cardiology group that employs advanced imaging techniques at various spatial scales, from subcellular to whole-heart, in order to understand the mechanisms of cardiovascular disease, identify new therapeutic targets, and enhance early detection and treatment effects in experimental medicine trials. His research primarily focuses on metabolic and immunological pathways related to heart failure, utilizing state-of-the-art spatial profiling techniques. Andrew has established collaborations with a diverse network of partners in academia and industry and encourages interdisciplinary expertise among applicants to discuss current opportunities in his lab. He previously worked as a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Oxford and conducted postdoctoral research at Massachusetts General Hospital under Professor Matthias Nahrendorf. Andrew was awarded the British Heart Foundation Intermediate Clinical Fellowship, which enabled him to establish his research group. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and a Kemp Postdoctoral Fellow at Lincoln College, Oxford.
