Dr. Andrew Manera

Biography

Andrew Manera is an instructor in the Theatre Department at the University of Regina, specializing in technical production and stage management. With over fifteen years of senior management experience in the cultural sector, he trained at the National Theatre School of Canada and the Banff Centre for the Arts. Andrew moved to Regina in 2007 to join the Globe Theatre Society, where he served as the Director of Production for four seasons, overseeing significant growth within the organization. Additionally, he has held the role of Technical Director and Artistic Associate for the Shumiatcher Sandbox Series. From 2015 to 2019, Andrew worked as the Production Manager for the Regina Symphony Orchestra, followed by a position as a Senior Program Advisor at the Department of Canadian Heritage until 2023. He was instrumental in the opening of the Artesian 13th Avenue in 2011, where he initially provided production technical support and later became the Venue Manager. In 2016, he founded the not-for-profit charitable organization, Artesian Performing Arts Inc., where he serves as the Artistic Executive Director. His mandate focuses on supporting the performing arts community in Regina, enhancing facility utilization, and championing emerging artists. Andrew is a passionate advocate for community-engaged artistic practices and remains a sought-after consultant and mentor in production management and technical design.
