Dr. Andrew Martin

Biography

Andrew Martin is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta. He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2008. His research focuses on various aspects of fluid mechanics, specifically in the context of biomedical applications. He is particularly interested in respiratory fluid mechanics and transport processes, including inhalation delivery of medical aerosols and gases, and the design of medical devices. Throughout his career, he has contributed significantly to the field of biomedical engineering, authoring and co-authoring numerous publications that explore advanced methods for drug delivery through nasal airways and improving breath detection techniques in respiratory care. Andrew has taught various courses, including a comprehensive Introduction to Thermo-Fluid Sciences that covers essential concepts such as heat transfer and fluid mechanics. He is a respected member of the academic community and continues to engage in research that aims to enhance the safety and efficiency of medical treatments.
