Dr. Andrew Mawdsley

Biography

Andrew Mawdsley is a Professor of Clinical Education within the School of Health Science at the University of Manchester. He serves as the Director of Education and leads health science programs, where he is responsible for educational leadership and enhancing the student experience. Professor Mawdsley has extensive teaching experience in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including roles at the Manchester Pharmacy School and the Manchester Medical School. He has worked in the hospital sector at Central Manchester University Hospitals, providing a rich background in pharmacy practice. His scholarship interests revolve around equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and he is actively engaged in pedagogic advancement and curriculum design and evaluation. Additionally, he is an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Pharmacy Practice. His contributions to pharmacy education are well recognized, and he is a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. He holds several qualifications, including a Master of Pharmacy, a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Manchester, focusing on the hidden curriculum in pharmacy education. Professor Mawdsley is also involved in research related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
