Biography

Andrew McMeekin is a Professor of Innovation at the Sustainable Consumption Institute (SCI) within the Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester. His career includes roles as Research Director at SCI and Deputy Director of a research group funded by the Economic and Social Research Council and the Scottish Government. Before joining the University of Manchester, he worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the ESRC Centre for Research on Innovation Competition (CRIC), focusing on research management and innovation. Andrew completed his doctorate on the relationship between innovation and demand for environmental sustainability and holds an MSc in Technology Management from the Science Policy Research Unit at the University of Sussex. His research interests are centered on long-term processes of socio-technical change, particularly the reconfiguration of systems in domains such as electricity and mobility. He is currently a Co-Investigator on a significant ESRC project concerning 'Digital Platforms for Future Urban Mobility'. His work incorporates insights from various fields, including science and technology studies, economic sociology, and urban studies, to understand innovation's relationship to everyday practices and the dynamics of production and consumption.
