Biography

Andrew McShan is an Assistant Professor in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has extensive experience in structural biology, focusing on the determination of atomic structures, dynamics, and functions of biomolecules and their therapeutic potential. His lab explores the design of new proteins, the characterization of immunological antigens, and the modeling of lipid/protein interactions. With research interests that encompass various fields, including Biophysical Computational Biology, Immunology, and Protein Design, McShan endeavors to uncover fundamental insights related to biomolecular interactions and their applications in therapeutics. Trainees in his lab acquire hands-on experience in biochemical and biophysical techniques, structural biology, and computational biology, contributing to a collaborative and inclusive research environment. McShan is particularly devoted to mentoring a diverse group of scientists, including individuals from the LGBTQAI+ community and those with disabilities.
