Biography

Andrew Mehnert obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Queensland in 2004, focusing on the image analysis study of chromatin distribution in cell nuclei for cervical cancer screening. He has held various positions as a Research Fellow and Senior Research Fellow in medical image analysis at the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at UQ. Since 2011, he has been appointed at the University of Western Australia, where he has served as an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in medical image analysis and has been associated with the MedTech West center at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden. His responsibilities include Group Leader in Data Management, Analysis, and Visualization, collaborating with researchers to enhance microscopy imaging techniques. Mehnert's research interests encompass the development of image analysis methods for biomedical imaging applications, particularly using MRI and CT, focusing on techniques like visualization, segmentation, and classification. He has secured substantial funding for various projects aimed at improving medical imaging services and has been involved in multiple international research collaborations.
