Andrew Messamore is a scholar whose research centers on the dynamics of housing systems in the United States, exploring topics such as landownership, housing investment, property usage, and the implications of these dynamics on housing affordability and urban inequality in contemporary cities. He is currently focusing on the development of new data and novel computational tools to map the shifting landscape of landownership and on creating theoretical frameworks to understand the evolution of rental landownership. Messamore will be joining the Sociology faculty at the University of Washington in 2024 and will also become a faculty affiliate with various research institutes including the eScience Institute, Center for Studies in Demography and Ecology, and Center for Statistics in the Social Sciences.
