Dr. Andrew Myers

Biography

Andrew Myers is the Class of 1912 Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Cornell University. His research focuses on building trustworthy software systems, emphasizing the development of high-level abstractions that provide strong guarantees in areas such as security, distribution, extensibility, and persistence. Andrew's active projects include advancing research and teaching in object-oriented design and data structures and creating new languages and systems for secure computing. He has served in various leadership roles within the programming languages community, including Chair of the SIGPLAN Executive Committee and Editor-in-Chief of several top-tier journals in programming languages and computer security. He has a wealth of experience organizing workshops and giving invited talks at prestigious conferences, contributing significantly to the advancement of research in computer science education and security technology. In addition to his academic work, Myers has been involved in community education initiatives, such as leading the Math Club at a local elementary school.
