Biography

Andrew Nathanson, MD, is a Clinical Professor in Emergency Medicine at Brown University. He graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine and has been affiliated with Miriam Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital, Level 1 trauma centers, since 1994. Dr. Nathanson specializes in quality improvement initiatives and chairs the Morbidity & Mortality conference. His residency training took place at the L.A.C. - U.S.C. Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA, where he completed his training between 1994 and 2005. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and has extensive expertise in managing injuries related to ocean water sports. His research interests include surfing injuries, sailing injuries, and injury prevention in wilderness as well as marine medicine. He has published various works, contributing chapters to books on surfing injuries and presenting research in respected journals related to emergency medicine and wilderness medicine. Dr. Nathanson is recognized for his commitment to education, receiving multiple awards for teaching excellence throughout his career at Brown University.
