Dr. Andrew Nurkin

Biography

Andrew Crowell Nurkin is an Associate Professor of the Practice at the Hart Leadership Program at the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. He holds an M.F.A. in poetry from Vermont College of Fine Arts, an M.Div. from Yale Divinity School, and an A.B. from Duke University. Andrew has a rich background in civic engagement, having previously served as the Executive Director of Princeton AlumniCorps and as a leader in various educational programs. His entrepreneurial career is marked by innovative approaches to civic education and leadership training, focusing on community-based research and public service initiatives. He is known for developing programs that empower young leaders to engage with civic challenges, including areas related to prison education and the intersection of the arts with social change. As an accomplished poet and community organizer, Andrew is committed to exploring how the arts can foster leadership and engagement in the 21st century.
