Dr. Andrew Ramsook

Biography

Andrew H. Ramsook is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo. His research program focuses on integrative physiology and exercise, with a particular emphasis on the respiratory system and the oxygen transport cascade. He investigates how the respiratory system and respiratory muscle function contribute to exercise limitations across various health conditions and age groups in humans. Dr. Ramsook employs an integrative approach to physiology, examining the interplay of respiratory, cardiovascular, and muscular systems under physiologically relevant stressors and during whole-body exercise. He offers graduate supervision and is involved in teaching respiratory physiology, integrative physiology of exercise, and cardiopulmonary interactions. His educational background includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Mayo Clinic, a PhD from the University of British Columbia, an MSc from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor of Physical Health Education from the University of Toronto.
