Biography

Andrew Roach is a Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Glasgow, where he specializes in Western European heresy and popular religion. His research explores the Bogomils in Southeast Europe and the economic networks associated with religion. He has worked on several projects, including a collaboration with Willy Maley on Milton's medievalist views, examining the dynamics of the drug trade as a model of medieval trade, and a long-term study of heresy in society from 1100 to 1300. His teaching covers various aspects of medieval history, focusing on heretics and inquisitors in Europe, and he has convened popular courses on medieval history at the university.
