Biography

Andrew Schrank received his PhD from the University of Wisconsin in 2000 and is currently the Olive C. Watson Professor of Sociology and International & Public Affairs at Brown University. He is a fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, working on the 'Innovation, Equity, Future Prosperity' program. Schrank has received numerous grants and fellowships from the National Science Foundation, the Social Science Research Council, and private foundations. He has consulted for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, and various federal agencies. In addition, Schrank has served on multiple editorial boards and has collaborated with organizations such as Somos un Pueblo Unido and the Center for New Economy. His research has been published in leading journals in political science, sociology, international development, and Latin American studies. He is the co-author of 'Root-Cause Regulation: Protecting Work and Workers in the Twenty-First Century', published by Harvard University Press in 2018.
