Biography

Andrew Scott teaches public policy at University College London, within the Department of Political Science. His research interests include understanding the processes of policy change, with a particular emphasis on the influences of lobbying, media, public opinion, and bureaucracy. He primarily focuses on Western democracies and international organizations, especially in the context of energy and environmental policy. Since joining UCL in 2020, Andrew has held various policy research roles in the UK Civil Service and at the Edinburgh Law School, as well as with the Law Society of Scotland. He obtained his doctorate on the influence of public opinion on lobbying outcomes related to drilling applications for shale gas and oil from the University of Edinburgh. He also holds an LLB in Scots Law and an MSc in International Relations from the University of Glasgow. Currently, Andrew serves as the Admissions Director for the MSc programmes in Public Policy and International Public Policy.
