Biography

Dr. Andrew Sorenson is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry. He is a fellowship-trained specialist in refractive surgery, corneal transplantation, and cataract surgery. Dr. Sorenson graduated from Stanford University and obtained his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. He completed his ophthalmology residency training at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. To complement his training, Dr. Sorenson underwent a year-long Cornea Refractive Surgery fellowship at Duke University Eye Center, where he was awarded the Duke Eye Center Hornaday Fellow Award for excellence in patient care and resident education. Since returning to Berkeley, he has joined his father and brother in a comprehensive ophthalmology practice, providing services to patients in the East Bay Area since 1952. His refractive surgery offerings include LASIK, PRK, PTK, Intralase, Verisyse implantation, and Wavefront-guided treatments for vision correction. Dr. Sorenson also serves as the Medical & Surgical Director of the Refractive Surgery Center and is the Chief of Ophthalmology at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley. Additionally, he is involved in international eye care initiatives in Guatemala.
