Biography

Andrew Stevenson is a postdoctoral researcher focusing on the effects of epigenetics in dermal fibroblasts, particularly in relation to scar formation and healing. He was born and raised in Perth and completed a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with honors at the University of Western Australia in 2007. After joining the Burn Injury Research Unit as a research assistant in 2009, he pursued a Ph.D., which he completed in 2015. His research primarily investigates fibrosis, with an emphasis on the mechanisms that sustain the scar phenotype in fibroblasts and their role in wound healing and pathological fibrosis. Andrew is dedicated to understanding and manipulating the epigenetic status of scar fibroblasts to revert them to a normal phenotype, thereby improving therapeutic outcomes for scar management. He has an h-index of 9 and has been involved in various research projects that contribute to advancements in cell therapies and regenerative medicine.
