Dr. Andrew Tsourkas

Biography

Andrew Tsourkas is a Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pennsylvania, where he focuses on the intersection of bioengineering and molecular imaging. His academic journey includes a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology/Emory University. Professor Tsourkas's research is centered on developing targeted imaging therapeutic agents to enhance the detection and treatment of cancer. He investigates new nanoformulations for delivering drugs and radiosensitizing agents, while exploring novel targeting strategies to improve specificity and sensitivity in cancer therapies. His work also employs advanced bioconjugation techniques for site-specific labeling of antibodies, facilitating the rapid production of bispecific antibodies.
