Dr. Andrew Wood

Biography

Andrew Wood is a Professor of Statistics at the Australian National University, with broad research interests in statistics, particularly non-Euclidean statistics, directional statistics, and statistical shape analysis. His work encompasses theoretical statistics and asymptotic theory methods, as well as computational methods. Andrew has contributed significantly to statistical applications, especially in the fields of science and medicine. His research has been supported by numerous grants, including substantial funding from the UK research councils, such as the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. Currently, he leads a project funded by the Australian Research Council Discovery Project. His publications frequently appear in leading international statistical journals, including the Journal of the American Statistical Association, Biometrika, and the Annals of Statistics. In addition to his research, Andrew serves as a Joint Editor for the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series B, and as an Associate Editor for Biometrika. He actively supervises research students and is engaged in various collaborative research projects.
