Biography

Professor Andrey Miroshnichenko obtained his PhD in 2003 from the Max-Planck Institute for Physics of Complex Systems in Dresden, Germany. In 2004, he moved to Australia to join the Nonlinear Physics Centre at the Australian National University. During his time there, he made fundamentally important contributions to the field of photonic crystals, particularly bringing to light the concept of Fano resonances in nanophotonics. In 2007, he was awarded an Australian Postdoctoral Fellowship and in 2011, he received a Future Fellowship from the Australian Research Council. In 2017, he transitioned to the University of New South Wales Canberra, where he became a UNSW Scientia Fellow. Notably, in 2019, Professor Miroshnichenko was recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by the Web of Science Group. His research interests encompass nonlinear nanophotonics, nonlinear optics, resonant interactions of light with nanoclusters, optical nanoantennas, and metamaterials.
